MMR

Despite the fact that Andrew Wakefield's research has never been really substantiated and has now been compromised by the reports that he was being paid to find evidence against the vaccine, people still believe that the MMR vaccine is the cause of their childrens' problems.

It may well be, but consider the following :-

1. The statistics have not really been well examined. I seem to remember the Royal Statistical Society saying they would act as an honest broKer and nothing happened.

2. The Royal Statistical Society has also complained at the poor statistics used by many researchers and believed by the public. Look at Roy Meadow and his conclusions!

3. I have a sister, who never had the luxury of an MMR vaccine. Measles left her the only poor-eyesighted member of my family. She is not alone, as I know of someone who is the same but partially deaf as well! Doctors talk of those who died!

4. My granddaughter was born with a hole in her diaphragm. She is fine now, but had to survive a major operation at three days old. She had lots of injections and masses of intrusions. Someone told me that babies like her grow up quickly and their immune system develops to try and ensure survival. They also said that such babies may die of their problems, but if they survive they have never had a problem with MMR.

So could it be like many of today's illnesses an immune system problem?

I don't know!

But we must analyse the statistics independently and dispassionately, so that if there is a link between vaccines and autism it is fully exposed or discredited.

The trouble is that too many doctors have a theory and try to prove it. Compare that with the engineer, who has a problem and tries to solve it!
